2017: the alleged five-year window

DE: Ab August 2017 endete laut öffentlichen Berichten die altersunabhängige Kulanz — älterer Bestand ~€982.

This note does not invent new facts. It restates what third-party outlets already published, and what this archive still asks Wetzlar to answer in writing.

In December 2014, public reprints of Leica’s goodwill described free CCD replacement regardless of the age of the camera (LFI, DPReview, DSLR-Forum). By May 2017, DPReview, Red Dot Forum and Macfilos reported a scheduled end to that open-ended path: a five-year window, with older bodies asked for a contribution around €982.

Question 1 on this site remains unanswered: how does “regardless of age” become a timed fee schedule, then later €1303+VAT (Brand, 2019), then “cannot replace” (2020)? Allegations and open questions only — not a court finding.
