This note adds no new facts. It points to an item already in the archive’s journal entry for 2022-06-26 and the underlying email thread 1819d9a82aa0691f. On 20 June 2022 the complainant wrote to Customer Care in Wetzlar that, after travelling with his M9, he found his photos affected, and asked what he should do. On 23 June 2022 the Complaint Manager replied that there had been “extensive correspondence” in 2019, that all explanations had been given, and: “We will not start this process again.” Since the CCD was no longer available, only upgrade offers were mentioned.
The complainant answered that he just wanted his camera fixed, not a new one. On 24 June 2022 the reply was: “The production of the CCD was discontinued in October 2019, sensors are not available any longer, a repair is therefore not possible.” The complainant then asked directly why a product with this problem was sold and now could not be fixed. The thread on file has no numbered answer to that question.
Why it is in this file: the October 2019 date sits next to other dates the archive records for the end of the replacement path, including the 2020 public reports of a programme stop (journal 2020-08-07) and the later China-side notice. After that, owners were pointed to third-party cover-glass repair or paid upgrades. When the exchange actually ended, and what an owner who paid €1303 + VAT was owed, is still one of the open questions.
Open line as of 2026-10-08: /questions/ still lists Q1–Q12 with no numbered point-by-point written reply on file. Orders 1058152 / 1105973 stay on the payment-on-file record. Allegations and unanswered questions only, not a court finding.
