Named stack: Kodak KAF-18500 + Schott S8612 — what the M9 CCD cover glass was (alleged)

DE: Laut dem Archiv-Journal (Golem.de über Macfilos) heißt der M9-Stapel Kodak KAF-18500 plus Schott S8612 — Deckglas-/IR-Filter-Korrosion, kein „Schmutz“. Behauptung, keine Feststellung.

This note adds no new facts. It reads the journal entry for 2026-09-23 already on this archive: Golem.de via Macfilos naming the sensor/glass stack behind the M9 generation as Kodak KAF-18500 + Schott S8612. The journal points at the site’s technical /quality/ notes, which already record that owners bought an ~18MP full-frame Kodak CCD (KAF-18500 family) and that the failure at smaller apertures (about f/5.6–f/22) is described as corrosion/oxidation of the cover glass / IR cut filter — white halos, not ordinary dust.

The same /quality/ page already lists Schott S8612 / BG-type IR absorbing glass; early 2014 notes of coating peel on Monochrom bodies in for CLA; the third-party LDP LLC / PetaPixel 2020 uncoated-filter claim (also summarised in the 2026-10-06 dated update); owner CCD-ID lore that early replacement generations still corroded while IDs 15/16 were treated as the later attempt; and the post-2020 path of independent glass swaps (Kolari and others) once Kodak CCD production for this part was gone — matching the third-party glass and three-campaigns journal notes.

Why it matters to this file: the 2014 goodwill wording offered free CCD replacement regardless of age, later narrowed by the 2017 five-year limit, then ended in the alleged 2020 stop. Naming the stack does not invent a laboratory finding of this archive; it only restates what the journal and /quality/ already exhibit so Wetzlar can admit, deny or correct it in writing. Used-market listings that advertise later “ID15, free of corrosion” sensors sit in the 2026-10-17 buyers-guide note and on CCD-Korrosion.

Open line as of 2026-10-18: /questions/ still lists Q1–Q12 with no numbered point-by-point written reply on file, including which cover-glass / sensor generations Leica itself treats as free of the corrosion risk. Orders 1058152 / 1105973 stay on the payment-on-file record. Allegations and unanswered questions only, not a court finding.
